I expected my period 03.16.01 and had a confirmed pregnancy test on 03.21.01. I had begun to feel pregnant on 03.18.01. I began taking herbs on 03.21.01. I was taking 500 mg Vit C every hour and 40 drops Dong Quai every 4 hours. I woke up every 2 hours during the night to take 1000 mg Vit C. I made an appointment to undergo a medical abortion on 03.30.01 and stopped taking the herbs on 03.27.01. Throughout this entire time, I concentrated on the termination of this pregnancy. Picturing the Virgin Mother's hands reaching inside of be and clenching my uterus. Imagining white hot lightning entering my stomach and causing my uterus to contract.
At my appointment on 03.27.01 I was given an ultrasound and the doctor said that I only looked one to two weeks developed. I had told her about the herbs and we decided that they must have been successful in retarding the growth of the tissue. I already knew that this was probably the case as I no longer felt full or electric. I could just tell there was no longer life inside of me. I was given two shots of an drug used to treat cancer for the purpose of breaking down the uterine lining.
I made another appointment for 04.06.01 during which I was supposed to have the suppositories inserted which cause the cramping and actual miscarriage to begin. On 04.02.01 I noticed a slightly pinkish discharge. On 04.03.01 I woke up to find that I was bleeding and that morning passed a small, cocktail onion sized mass of tissue. I called the women's health clinic and made an appointment for 04.04.01 to make sure I was OK. When I woke up Wednesday morning, I passed another similarly sized piece of tissue.
That day when I went to my doctor's appointment, they did another ultrasound and confirmed that there was no more tissue in my uterus, only blood. My body had begun to miscarry naturally, before receiving the suppositories. I was given 2 0.2 mg tablets of Methergine to increase and speed up the miscarriage process. I took the first pill at 5:00 pm on 04.05.01 and the second pill four hours later. My bleeding became slightly heavier, but I experienced only mild discomfort. I am still lightly spotting (today is 04.09.01) but all in all feel almost back to normal.
I BELIEVE THE HERBS WORKED. I was in a situation with a very selfish, very controlling man whom I did not love who thought he could guilt me into marrying him. I was placed under a great deal of emotional and moral stress due to his inability to accept my decision. It was only after I received the shots and shut him out of my experience that I was able to fully give myself over to the concept of release. I have said goodbye to the spirit and will be having a ceremony within the week.
There are many lessons that can be learned from an experience such as this, Do you feel you have learned something from this experience? If so what? Yes, I have learned so much about my body, the power it holds, and the power I, as a woman and as an individual, have. I feel powerful.
Is there anything you would have done differently? I would never have allowed my ex to be a part of my experience. I believe I would be so much healthier now had I not allowed him to judge me tell me such horrible things.
