Pregnancy Test: None taken

What was the date of the first day of your last menstrual period?
January 22, 2000. It was a little early.

Do you know the date of fertilizing intercourse? What was it? I am not sure that I was actually pregnant. I had unprotected sex on February 20th and 21st. I know conception is unlikely at that point in the cycle, but I never miss a period, am very rarely late, and if I am, it's only a day or 2. Also, about a week after the unprotected sex, I began to experience symptoms of pregnancy. I have only experienced them once before, and that time I was pregnant.

What was the date you were expecting menstruation?
I expecting it February 23rd. My period is normally like clockwork. I began worrying when it hadn't shown up by February 25th.

When were the herbs started? Please include a summary of dosage information.
Vitamin C (1000 mg every 2 hours, except at night), Dong Quai (1000mg every 2 hours, except at night), and Black Cohosh (1000mg every 2 hours).

How was the pregnancy ended?
Spotting started after the second dose of Black Cohosh. It got heavier as the day went along. I bled for 5 days, just a little heavier and longer than a normal period for me.

Were you successful in using the herbs?
The herbs brought on menstruation.

Did you have a pregnancy test? What was the result? and when was it taken?
No, I didn't. I was scared of what the results might be. The only time I have ever missed a period before, I was pregnant.

Is this your first pregnancy?
If I was in fact pregnant, no, it is not. I miscarried when I was pregnant before.

Were you using birth control? If you were not using birth control, please share why not.
I was not using any. I had been having problems with my boyfriend for several weeks, and we'd basically decided to stop seeing each other, at least for a while. I had not expected to be sexually active anytime in the near future. But, we ended up having a long talk and making love. It seemed to catch both of us off guard as it was not something that was intended, so neither of us had prepared.

I started the herbs on February 25th. I took Vitamin C only (1000 mg every 2 hours, except at night. Then, I took 2000mg before going to bed, and got up once during the night to take another 2000 mg) until February 29th. On the evening of the 29th, I added Dong Quai. First I took 1000 mg every 4 hours.

Then, the morning of March 1st, I upped the dose to 1000 mg every 2 hours. On March 3rd, I forgot my Vitamin C and Dong Quai when leaving home. I stopped at the pharmacy on the way to the office to buy replacements. I got the Vitamin C without a problem. They were out of Dong Quai, though. So, I got some Black Cohosh. I continued to take the Vitamin C as I had been, and started the Black Cohosh, 1000 mg every 2 hours as well. I had been having light cramping since beginning the Dong Quai, but never saw any evidence of menstrual flow. I had experienced dizziness, breast tenderness and swelling, darkening and an enlargement of the area surrounding the nipple, prolonged nausea, fatigue, and vaginal discharge -- all of which were the symptoms I experienced when I was pregnant before. After 2 doses of the Vitamin C, coupled with the Black Cohosh, I began to spot. I continued to take them both for the remainder of the day, and the bleeding increased and became more steady. I bled a little heavier than usual for 5 days (which was a day longer than normal).

Is there anything you would have done differently? Obviously, I think, I would have ensured that I had used protection in the first place so that I wouldn't have had any worries at all. Regarding the use of the herbs, nothing.
