Age: 43 Then when I did the herbal abortion but I am now 51
Weight: 100
Height: 5'

Did you have a pregnancy test? I think that did

If no pregnancy test was taken - do you think you were pregnant? How strongly do you feel this way? I am sure that I was pregnant because a few months before I had had a clinical abortion and I was required to wait until that could be performed which was about 3 weeks after it was confirmed with a pregnancy test. I was sure that I was pregnant again and very embarrassed about how stupid I was so I decided to try an herbal abortion quickly and see how that turned out. It was easy and I had no adverse side effects.

How was the pregnancy ended? I decided to try the least harmful things in combination. I took a vitamin C every 2 hours and sucked on ginger root and drank a tea that I made from a combination of blue and black cohosh That was 8 years ago and I am not remembering the exact formula but I got the recipe from Susan Weed's book. It took about 3 days and I started my period. I am quite positive that I was pregnant, It was quite a heavy period and I felt like I could see the fetus although I did not get a microscope but I found a bit of tissue that seemed to be the size and shape of what should have been there at that time.

Were you successful in using the herbs? Yes
Would you try herbs again, or recommend them to a friend in the same situation? Yes, if they knew that they were pregnant early enough

Is there anything that clued you in that the herbs might be working before bleeding started? no that was a bit unnerving

Is this your first pregnancy? It was my forth, I have two children and then I terminated a pregnancy just a bit earlier.

How many weeks pregnant were you when the herbs were started? I started the herbs about 4 weeks from conception.

For how many days were the herbs used (total)? 3 or 4

Were you using birth control? Not as effectively as I should have been!
What kind/method of birth control/contraception were you using? Condoms

If you were not using birth control, please share why not. I was with a relatively new partner who had never been successful at creating a pregnancy. He was fertile but isn't anymore, thanks to a small surgical procedure.

Did you experience any symptoms or signs of pregnancy? I experienced all the symptoms, tender breasts. swelling, late period and nausea.

When did they start? within 2 or 3 weeks of conception

Please include a summary of dosage information. I drank the tea 3 or 4 times a day and took vitamin C and chewed on ginger root.

Side effects. I believe that the Vitamin C caused diarrhea
How did the herbs affect you? No effect
Any positive effects? Not being pregnant
Where there any negative effects? no
How did being pregnant make you feel physically? swollen, tender and nauseous

If the herbs caused miscarriage -- how did you feel just before bleeding began? And when bleeding started - How was the bleeding, cramping, etc? I didn't feel different but very relieved that it worked

Could you reflect on the process of a herbal abortion and write a paragraph about it. I would like to add something of this nature to my website, but would like other experiences to draw upon besides my own. Thanks.

I have been wanting to talk about the process for a long time because I think it is such an important topic. I believe that this information must have been readily available at some point and has been totally lost now. I was very grateful for Susan Weeds book because she included simple recipes and explanations of risk. The process was very simple and if it hadn't worked I would have been able to have a clinical abortion so it seemed to be a no risk option to try before hand. I understood that the teas would not cause health dangers in the amounts that I was using them and that the process had an unknown percentage of working. It turned out that It worked very well for me, on schedule and almost painlessly. I am very sad that more people don't know this information, it should be part of self care for every woman. Obviously one has to know that they are pregnant very early, but in all 4 of my pregnancy I knew I was pregnant from subtle body changes very very early.

Is there anything you would have done differently? be more careful with birth control to begin with
