Height: 6ft

Did you have a pregnancy test? yes
When was it taken? one day after my period was due
What was the result. positive

How was the pregnancy ended? I used black cohosh 1000mg every four hours, and vitamin c, 500mg tablet hourly. After two days, I stoped using the vitamin c hourly overnight. I set my alarm, and used the black cohosh and vitamin c every four hours, rather than waking hourly. I used the herbs starting the day of my positive pregnancy test, and continued for approximately two weeks. I stopped, and aborted about one week after.

Were you successful in using the herbs? Yes.
Would you try herbs again, or recommend them to a friend in the same situation? Yes
Is there anything that clued you in that the herbs might be working before bleeding started? I stopped using the herbs when I started experiencing heavy cramping.

Is this your first pregnancy? No. I have a seven year old.
How many weeks pregnant were you when the herbs were started? it was the first day of my missed period
For how many days were the herbs used (total)? fourteen

What kind/method of birth control/contraception were you using? Condoms and diaphragm
Do you know how/why it failed? When we stopped having sex, the condom had come off.
If you were not using birth control, please share why not. I cannot take hormones due to prior cancer which is hormone positive. I cannot take hormones, and pregnancy would be very dangerous due to the high estrogen levels.

Did you experience any symptoms or signs of pregnancy? Tenderness in the breasts.
When did they start? About one week after the pregnancy test.

Please include a summary of dosage information.
I took vitamin c, 500mg, every hour including throughout the evening for two days along with black cohosh, 1000mg every four hours. After the second day, I was exhausted from waking up hourly, and just took the vitamin c every four hours over night with the black cohosh. I continued the vitamin c hourly during the day, and the black cohosh every four hours. Both herbs were in pill form, purchased at the local pharmacy. Both herbs were taken for fourteen days. I began having heavy cramping at this point, and stopped taking the pills. On the 19th day, I completely aborted. I had very heavy bleeding that required a visit to the emergency room.

Side effects. Nausea

Do you have any health problems or issues? History of breast cancer.

How did being pregnant make you feel physically? Other than tender breasts, no serious side effects. Just worried about the effects of a pregnancy on my health.

If the herbs caused miscarriage -- how did you feel just before bleeding began? And when bleeding started - How was the bleeding, cramping, etc? The cramping was very heavy when I finaly aborted. I felt as though I was actually in labor. The bleeding was so heavy, I had to go to the emergency room, as I knew I was losing too much blood. Be sure to seek out medical attention if you feel something is not right when you go through the process.

Could you reflect on the process of a herbal abortion and write a paragraph about it. I would like to add something of this nature to my website, but would like other experiences to draw upon besides my own. Thanks.

I made my appointment immediately for the abortion, but you must wait until you are seven weeks pregnant for a surgical abortion. I felt as though I wanted to have more control over the situation. I read this website, and felt that I had nothing to lose, as I already had the appointment. It made me feel as though I had some control over the situation.

Your Story -
I knew that I could not have a baby, for the health risks were too great for me. On the day that my period was due, I took a pregnancy test, which was positive. I read the article and decided to try the vitamin c and black cohosh. I started the pills the next day, which was the day after my period was due. I took the vitamin c (500mg) hourly for 48 hours, even through the night. I also took black cohosh, 100 mg, every four hours. I continued the herbs for fourteen days, and began having very heavy cramps. I stopped the herbs at that point, as I had an appointment for a surgical abortion, and I was not allowed to take any medicine for a week prior to the appointment. I did, however, have the abortion before going to get the surgical abortion. The cramping was very heavy, and I was surprised at how similar the cramps were to childbirth. I definitely believe that the miscarriage was due to the herbal supplements, and I am so thankful that I was able to avoid the surgical abortion. This method gave me a feeling of control over my situation, as I had to wait several weeks before allowed to have the surgical abortion. I would absolutely recommend this method to women that find themselves in a similar situation.

Is there anything you would have done differently? no
